Corinthians 1 Corinthians 1:4-9 DISCIPLES ENRICHED WITH KNOWLEDGE AND SPEECH BLAMELESSNESS FELLOWSHIP WITH THE SON OF GOD I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. For in him you have been enriched in every way— with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge— God thus confirming our testimony about Christ among you. Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord 1 Corinthians 1:23-24 THE CROSS, THE POWER OF GOD WE PREACH CHRIST CRUCIFIED THE WISDOM OF GOD We preach Christ crucified: A stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God 1 Corinthians 1:26-29 GOD CHOSE THE LOWLY THINGS OF THIS WORLD Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things— and the things that are not— to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 EYE HAS NOT SEEN EAR HAS NOT HEARD THE THINGS GOD HAS PREPARED However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”— the things God has prepared for those who love him— these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 GOD'S TEMPLE GOD'S SPIRIT Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple. 1 Corinthians 4:9 APOSTLES ON DISPLAY CONDEMNED TO DIE A SPECTACLE TO ANGELS AND HUMANS For it seems to me that God has put us apostles on display at the end of the procession, like those condemned to die in the arena. We have been made a spectacle to the whole universe, to angels as well as to human beings. 1 Corinthians 4:12-13 APOSTOLIC ENDURANCE CURSED, PERSECUTED, SLANDERED WE ARE SCUM AND GARBAGE We work hard with our own hands. When we are cursed, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it; when we are slandered, we answer kindly. We have become the scum of the earth, the garbage of the world— right up to this moment. 1 Corinthians 4:20 THE KINGDOM OF GOD THE KINGDOM OF POWER For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power 1 Corinthians 4:21 WITH A ROD OF DISCIPLINE OR WITH A GENTLE SPIRIT What do you prefer? Shall I come to you with a rod of discipline, or shall I come in love and with a gentle spirit? 1 Corinthians 5:1 SEXUAL IMMORALITY REPORTED A MAN SLEEPING WITH HIS FATHER'S WIFE It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that even pagans do not tolerate: A man is sleeping with his father’s wife 1 Corinthians 5:5 THE APOTLE COMMANDING DESTRUCTION OF THE FLESH FOR SEXUAL IMMORALITY Hand this man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord 1 Corinthians 5:7-8 OLD BREAD LEAVENED WITH MALICE AND WICKEDNESS A NEW UNLEAVENDED BATCH OF SINCERITY AND TRUTH Get rid of the old yeast, so that you may be a new unleavened batch— as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old bread leavened with malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth 1 Corinthians 5:11 THE APOSTLE DOES NOT JUDGE THE OUTSIDE WORLD PAUL JUDGES THE ASSOCIATION OF A BROTHER OR A SISTER But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler.
